![]() ![]() The Pathfinders are an amazing deal at their price and would still be a great deal even if they cost twice as much. ![]() The overdrive on the VOX may work for you but, if it doesn't, then just put a pedal in front of it as they take pedals very well. The Marshall on its best setting cannot come close to the Pathfinder on its worst setting. They are full, rich, warm, responsive, and are very tube-like. The cleans are, by far, the best I have ever heard from a SS amp. I currently own both a Marshall Class 5 and a VOX Pathfinder 15R and I can tell you that the Pathfinders are sensational amps. Essentially, you are getting a piece of crap. I tried out several solid-state practice amps in the 100-200 price range. It's not designed or intended for heavy-metal or thrash-punk. With a mere press of this switch, you can go from a crystal-clear, clean sound to Voxs uniquely warm distortion. The clean/overdrive switch allows you to change instantly between clean and dirty sounds. It is well suited for Beatles, Byrds, Tom Petty, REM, and simliar modern-retro styles. The Pathfinder 10s powerful yet always tone-filled 10-watt output makes this amp perfect for home practice, backstage warm-up, and recording. Trust me, you are not getting a 'Marshall' when you buy one of those. This Pathfinder 15R really nails that vintage VOX Brit-Rock sound 100. The DFX versions of the MG line are the older ones and they were waaaaaay worse than the newer ones like I had. Condition is Gently Used in fantastic condition! Comes with audio2000s ahp 501 headphones. The Pathfinder 15R (15 watts, R for Reverb and 8' Bulldog speaker over the 6.5' in the 10) was discontinued several years ago and, in good shape, they run about 150-175 or so on Ebay.
